Time’s up! The month is out and the steps have been counted…But before we announce how far we’ve walked and how much we’ve raised, here’s a quick re-cap of what the Step-tember challenge entailed for the Chief Nation team…
Our mission was to walk the same number of steps it would take to get from London to Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital. That’s 9,874,000 steps!
Our pledge was to donate £1 for every 10,000 steps that we cover as a team.
Our aim was to raise £987.00 for the amazing charity, Think Malawi.
Drum roll, please!
And so, after 30 days of frenzied walking and competitive step counting, the Chief Nation team walked a total of 8,672,383 steps!
Impressive as that figure is, we were just shy of our target. So, to help us over the finish line we recruited our furry stepper, Nelson!
It’s a well known fact that dog’s do more steps than humans, and so, with Nelson on board, we’re thrilled to announce we exceeded our target!
So far we’ve raised a total of £1280 for Think Malawi!

Special thanks
We want to say a special thank you to all our honorary ‘steppers’, our wine experts Amy Christie, May Matta-Aliah, Peter McConmbie, Julian Chamberlain and Sam Capron. They all got stuck in and their efforts helped us get closer to our goal. Oh, and let’s not forget Nelson!
Think Malawi
It’s been an active month and we’ve all enjoyed working together to do some good in the world. Let’s not forgot what got us here in the first place…
Think Malawi is a small independent UK based charity run purely by volunteers. 90% of the money they raise goes directly to the projects they help with. These include:
- Funding teachers’ salaries during school closures in the Coronavirus Pandemic
- Supporting school girls in Malawi who miss school due to inadequate menstrual materials
- Building classrooms, washrooms and wells in schools for over ten years
It’s amazing to think that just £20 provides a quality education for one child for an entire school term. We might have walked a long way, but your money will go an even longer way.
There’s still time to donate! If you’d like to support the incredible work Think Malawi do, visit our justgiving page here.
Thank you to everyone who supported us and this life-changing cause!

We did it!
