At Chief Nation, we bring together talent across marketing, data, creative, and – of course – events under one roof. In this exclusive interview series, we’re introducing you to the people that make your campaigns shine.

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Carina, aka ‘Cari’, who has been at Chief Nation for three and a half years. As our well-loved Marketing & Events Manager, Cari’s role spans teams and departments giving everyone the pleasure of working alongside her!

After three and a half years at Chief Nation, Cari knows all there is to know about managing events.

You’re a Marketing & Events Manager here at Chief Nation. Could you tell us what this means for you?

As Marketing and Events Manager I run end to end private events and headline dinners (pre-Covid, of course), monitor campaign success, ensure efficiency and constantly share tips, drive client satisfaction and strengthen client relationships. I also manage the Chief Wine Officer social accounts.

Walk us through your average day.

I like to start my day with a matcha latte and catch up on my emails – I work with mostly US clients, so there will be things to handle as soon as log in. After that it’s working on ongoing events, helping my colleagues, having client calls, working on our social media – if you don’t follow our Instagram, you really should! It always depends on how campaigns are going and if I have an event that day.

Lover of all things fluffy!

Curveball: favourite movie and why?

Aahhhhh I can’t! This is an impossible question to answer as it always changes depending on the mood I’m in. Sorry!

What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Switching off. I care so much about all my campaigns and have always over-delivered on them, but that comes with the daily stress of juggling everything.

And the most rewarding part?

On the event side, it has to be the moment all my guests have joined, and I can see both clients and guests enjoying one of our famous CWO events – digital or live. (And how I miss attending my live events and soaking up all the energy from them!) On the other hand, being able to work with amazingly talented and inspiring colleagues is hugely rewarding.

What’s your spirit animal?

A koala bear, because they sleep for 18 hours straight and are cuddly.

If you were a wine, what would you be?

Probably Franciacorta Rose, because it’s bubbly, delicate and harmonious. Just like me! Hehe

The travel bug: Cari loves travelling and exploring new places.

Do you have any hobbies? How do you unwind at the weekend?

I love fashion, food and traveling. Pre-pandemic I adored going on weekends away, enjoying the local food and style. Nowadays I try to keep in touch with friends and keep up to date with the latest fashion trends. I also visit farms and pet fluffy animals. (Does this count as a hobby? 🤣

Pineapple on pizza: yes or no?

What’s the best present anyone has ever given you?

Unconditional support and time? Cheesy I know, but we need to surround ourselves with people who hype us up and celebrate our success as if they were their own.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment at Chief Nation?

I’ve been with the company for over 3 ½ years so there are many things! Working with the biggest names in tech industry like IBM, Accenture, Salesforce, Veracode, AWS is one, and so is leading the CWO Instagram and Twitter social media, and helping onboard the events team.

Best piece of advice you ever heard?

My mom always told me that the way people talk to and about you says more about them than about you, there’s no need to take it to heart. She also taught me to treat people with kindness no matter what.

Finally, what’s your favourite drink?

G&T. Funny enough, I disliked it until I moved to London and had my first proper G&T. After that there was no turning back.
